Research Program

Our long-term goal is to develop and deploy strategies that break the poverty cycle for marginalized people impacted by compounding disasters.

Crump Lab Theory of Change

In the current state of the world, inequities and cycles of poverty impact vulnerable people. Through our groups' research, teaching, and outreach, we begin to understand marginalization, education (how people learn), and the adoption of technologies. Our research begins to uncover how the world could be with improved social inclusion and food security.

Therefore, the goals of our research program are to understand:

 (1) the kinds of policies that would increase resiliency and empowerment among different vulnerable agricultural populations,

(2) learn which resiliency strategies are already working and whether they transfer elsewhere

(3) develop or test novel extension, research, or training approaches that lead to climate change resiliency.
